For those who haven’t heard, on June 1, 2013, REI axed their long-standing, lifetime return policy for merchandise. The new policy allows you to return merchandise for up to one year after purchase. After one year, it belongs to you.

Honestly, even with the high prices they charge on everything in their stores, I don’t know how they could ever afford to take merchandise back after many years of use and stay in business. However, that lifetime return policy was a HUGE incentive to do business with them.

The new, one-year return policy is still much better than any other wilderness outfitter, so  I guess we’ll just have to roll with it.
